Bring on the best!

The "Master Blaster", Sachin Tendulkar once said in his interview: 'Something which still gives me sleepless nights is, “How will I go out and keep that standard, and live up to my own expectations. How am I going to go out and perform?” That restlessness brings the best out of me, it’s a healthy sign.' This clearly indicates that even the best of the best are worried whether they will be able to perform upto the standards or not.
This tension..... this pressure will eventually fade out as you start enjoying what you do and more importantly understanding yourself. When you eventually fall in love will your work, it won't matter to you what others think about your performance. You will then be your own competitor and you will set your own benchmarks and break your own records. Not everyone reaches this point in life where they fall in love with their work, but if you are the lucky one then you are the luckiest person in this world. If you reach this point anytime in your life, then you are just going to live out loud (LOL)! There is nothing that could stop you from doing your best and no critics will ever matter to you.
So, people put there, just follow your heart and it can make wonders.

Don't forget the magical "smile"!

Life is getting busier with the work stress increasing these days. Sometimes we are so obsessed with our daily commitments and our work that we forget to smile. When the smile disappears, it leads to even more stress. So, people out there, enjoy your work and don't forget the magical "smile". Smile is a good way to clam down yourself when under stress and gives your more energy to do the work in hand.

We are the Cricket World Cup Champions!

2nd April, 2011 will be cherished and be mesmerized in the memories of all Indian Cricket fans forever. What a day it has been! India wins the ICC World Cup 2011. It made every Indian proud about their team.

Cricket is not just a sport, it is a "religion" in India and with India being the World Cricket Champions, it's even a bigger "religion" to rule the hearts of a billion population. One will find all kind of cricket fans in India. Fans who give up all their routine work for catching up with a cricket match, fans who pray for their team day and night and fans who ready to do anything to to see their favorite team to victory.

So, what have we learnt through this ICC World Cup, 2011 which India won this year. Many things:
  • The Team Spirit: The best team is the one in which the players understand the importance of team spirit. It is not individuals who can win the World Cup, but it has to be the entire team. So, when a particular player is doing badly, the team mates try and calm the nerves of that player by talking to him and reminding him that he is playing for the country. This teaches us that we should be calm under pressure situation. There would be occasions when one would get a chance to perform on a big stage and to do his best, it would be great if one maintains his composure and be mentally stable. When one is playing as a part of a team, it is "we" that should matter rather than "me".
  • "It does not matter how deep the ocean is, because it not the depth of the ocean that is important but it is the motion of the ocean that is important.": These were remarkable words which the legendary Sunil Gavaskar said on the broadcasting media just before the match, seeing that some players are injured and will not be able to play the most important match for the country. This teaches us that it does not matter if you don't have a few resources, but it is more important to have the right determination, strategy and direction to succeed. It is very important how you channelize your energy in giving a direction for the journey of achieving something.
  • The failure of the big "guns": There are times when the most trusted players don't perform. The two India opening batsmen: the legendary Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Shewag got out without performing in the World Cup Finals, but India still managed to win. This one teaches us that we should never give up the fight. The match is not lost till the last ball is bowled or the last wicket has fallen or the last run is scored. So, it is important to keep fighting right till the end and that will help you to win.
  • The only way to succeed in life is hard work: No matter how talented you are, what matters in the end is the hard work and the effort which you put in to succeed. Each and every player had worked hard to win this World Cup and the win would only inspire us to work even harder in whatever we do.
  • Taking a tough path, means you are more likely to rip a better reward in the end: India played knock out matches against two best teams: Australia and Pakistan to get into the World cup finals. This was a tougher path than the path for the Sri Lankan team, who were the runner-up of the World Cup Finals of World Cup 2011. Sri Lanka had to beat England and New Zealand teams to reach the Finals. Both these teams were not as good as Australia and Pakistan teams at that time. The most important learning here is that one who reaches phenomenal heights is the one who has gone through a tough competition, so do not shy away from get into a fierce competition.
  • Get your strategies right: It is very important to have strategies to go about doing a particular work. But what is even more important is that one should have "plan B", if things don't work out as planned. Beginning the journey of achieving something without planning or spending time on strategy would be a definite way to welcome a failure.
  • Self-belief is the most important thing in life: One can win only of he thinks he can. If one doubts his own abilities to succeed, then he is not going succeed, no matter how much effort he puts in. So, believe in yourself and the God of Success will bestow the "gift of success" on you.
Congrats team India. Well done! We are all proud of you.

The White Globe Philosophy

When this world was formed, there were no political borders separating people. But with the development of the human societies, things have changed. This world is no longer a single entity. It is fragmented into regions called as "countries", which are further fragmented into "states". While the planet was being fragmented, human hearts too got fragmented. People in a particular country consider themselves to be different from people in any other country and within the country, "state-ism" exists.

The white globe philosophy, which is so called by the author (me), does not believe in having political borders. It considers the world to be a single entity. The white color signifies the peace, which would be a outcome of this concept. The idea is to paint the globe with white color, that is with peace and to bring all human hearts together, so that the humanitarian spirit acquires a global face. People would get together more easily and this would end all wars.

Imagine the world that we would be living in then. It would lead to exchange of ideas more freely than they are. Just as the globalization resulted in a drastic change in how everything works or even what people think, the "white globe philosophy" will have a similar kind of effect. All the human beings can together care and nurture the mother earth. The so-called "countries" would stop spending trillions of dollars in research and manufacturing of arms and ammunition. The dream of global disarmament would become a reality then. The money saved by avoiding the investment on research and manufacturing of arms and ammunition could be utilized in caring for the children of mother earth.World would thus be a better place to live.

Life is a Marathon Race

Life! It's good to be in this world and to experience the best in this world: the nature, the stars, the moon and everything. Everything in this world is beautiful. But for many people, life is all about competition and winning. It all starts when we are at school. Although gaining knowledge should be our top most priority, we are more concern over getting 1st rank in the class. Competition at school is everywhere: during the exams, during the sports events, during singing competition, etc.

In psychology, there is a concept named "classical conditioning" which is an important aspect and it can affect the behavior of a person. The psychological theory of "classical conditioning" says that if a certain response, which causes certain behavior or a response, is repeated with another response which does not cause that response, then eventually the second stimulus will also result in the same response. So, we are essentially "classical conditioning" our brains since childhood that nothing in this world is more important than winning a competition. When we grow up, we still carry forward the same attitude towards life and try to win every competition. In this process, we forget to appreciate many important things in life. We forget to appreciate the nature, family, friends and even our own life. We forget what happiness is or what it means to enjoy our life.

However, one can look at it in another way: life needs us to be have an attitude of being competitive enough to survive. The Darwin's biological model of "survival for fittest" is long cherished by all the philosophers and biologist around the globe. "Survival for fittest" model explains the evolution of life on earth. It says that only those living beings survived on the planet who were well suited for their environment. If we apply this philosophy to our "life is a marathon race" concept, we can say that only those people will achieve success in their life, who are well suited for their environment or can adapt to suit their environment. This requires us to be competitive enough throughout the life and it makes us feel the need to win every competition which we are put into. If we are competitive upto a certain point and give up after that, then we will have to make a stop in our journey of achieving the goal at that point. Life is like a long marathon race and if one needs to win it, one needs to maintain his pace right till the end.
